Where our data comes from
Schools and early learning centres
The list of schools and early learning centres in JuggleBoard comes from the Ministry of Education's Directory of Educational Institutions, published on data.govt.nz under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
From it we use each school's and centre's name, address, phone number and office email, and the kind of school it is.
We've adapted it for JuggleBoard:
- Year levels come from the kind of school: for example Years 0–8 at a full primary, 7–8 at an intermediate and 9–13 at a secondary school. Early learning centres show All Ages, or the names they give their groups.
- Early learning centres include education and care centres, kindergartens, Kōhanga Reo, Playcentres, Puna Reo and Pacific language services. Home-based networks, hospital-based and casual services aren't included.
- Office email is shown only when it's the centre's own address, not one shared across an association or region.
- Schools and centres can change their own details once they've joined JuggleBoard (see Edit school details).
The Ministry of Education doesn't endorse JuggleBoard and isn't responsible for it. If a school's or centre's details look wrong, email support@juggleboard.com and we'll fix them.
School term dates
School term dates come from the Ministry of Education's School terms and holidays dates for state and state-integrated schools. Where a school chooses its own first or last day of the year, we show its dates instead.
Events and notices
Events and notices don't come from the Ministry of Education. They're posted by school and centre staff and by the families who use JuggleBoard (see Who posts the events and notices?). New Zealand public holidays are added by us.
